The Edadi Program at Rahmah Institute serves as the essential foundation for serious Islamic learning. It is designed to introduce students to core subjects like Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and Arabic, establishing a firm base in sacred knowledge and preparing learners for advanced study in the Islamic sciences.
The Significance of the Edadi Level
The Edadi or Lower Secondary course at Al-Azhar is a comprehensive three-year program designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that blends both religious and secular subjects. Over the course of these three years, students are introduced to a variety of disciplines that are essential for their intellectual and spiritual growth.
Key Subjects in the Edadi Level
Religious studies form a significant part of the curriculum, including the study of the Qur’an, with a focus on its recitation and memorization. The students also learn Tajweed, the rules of pronunciation and intonation of the Qur’anic verses. Additionally, Usul al-Din, which covers important Islamic sciences such as Tawhid (the concept of monotheism), Tafsir (Qur’anic interpretation), Hadith (the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad), and Sirah (the biography of Prophet Muhammad) are taught to deepen the students’ understanding of Islam. Fiqh, or Islamic jurisprudence, is another key subject that helps students learn about Islamic laws and ethics.

Alongside the religious curriculum, a strong emphasis is placed on developing proficiency in the Arabic language, which is the foundation of understanding Islamic texts. In addition, students are taught Khat, or calligraphy, an essential skill for writing beautiful and legible Arabic script.
The course also includes important secular subjects, such as English language, which is taught to enhance communication skills, and Mathematics, which helps students build logical and problem-solving abilities. Other subjects like Social Studies, Science, History, and Geography are included to provide students with a broad understanding of the world around them, ensuring that they are well-informed about various cultures, historical events, and global developments. Computer Studies are also included, equipping students with the skills necessary for the modern technological landscape.
Furthermore, Tarbiyah (Islamic upbringing) is incorporated into the curriculum to ensure the moral and ethical development of the students.
